LAPD car chase ends with fugitive driver performing breakdance routine

A car chase in California ended when the driver got out his vehicle with his hands up – and ready to throw some shapes.

Police were astonished when the fugitive motorist, who they had been forced to bump off the road, exited his car and broke into a 10-second breakdance routine.

Officers kept their guns trained on the man as he pulled off his moves, lit by a helicopter spotlight, in the middle of the street.

And the risky routine, as it turned out, had a national audience: it was beamed onto TV by a news chopper which had been filming the car pursuit.

The drama in Los Angeles started when the man failed to stop after officers with the California Highway Patrol signalled him to pull over on suspicion of reckless driving on Tuesday.

Instead, he drove away – though never topped speeds of 60mph – before police performed a pursuit intervention technique, a method of bumping a car so it spins and comes to a stop.

After his dancing, the driver was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
