Laois teen Seoirsa Leagh Jack, 18, celebrating after winning X Factor The Band with Real Like You

Laois teen Seoirsa Leagh Jack is on a high after winning X Factor The Band with her group Real Like You.

The lucky teen has secured a recording contract with Simon Cowell's label Syco after the band's triumphant victory in the revamped series on Sunday night.

Portlaoise native Seorsia and her bandmates Kellimarie Wilis, Jess Folley, Luena Martinez, Halle Williams and Virginia Hampson won the public vote with their performances of their original song Be Like Them and covers Sorry by Demi Lovato, Problem by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea and Independent Woman by Destiny's Child.

And Seorsia drew particular praise from former X Factor winner and new judge Leona Lewis, who complimented her "sweet" voice.

Taking to social media, Seorsia revealed how illness and losing her voice almost cost her a place in the band.

She said: "Being a part of The X Factor has honestly been such an amazing experience with such amazing people," she said.

"I think this is about the hardest thing I've ever done, from losing my voice and getting ill right before my auditions to getting into the band and winning The X Factor."

Seorsia's parents are from Zimbabwe but fled the country and moved to Ireland to escape Robert Mugabe's reign.

They named their daughter Seorsia as a variation on the Irish name Saoirse, meaning freedom.

She also goes by the stage name Sia Babez and has already released two songs as a solo artist, debut single Hit My Line and Are You Ready.
