Laois manager Eddie Brennan: 'Dublin are definitely a different animal now, but so are we'

Laois will be ready for Dublin in this weekend's All-Ireland hurling preliminary quarter-finals, says manager Eddie Brennan.

His Joe McDonagh Cup winners face a sharp turnaround as they look to take out the Dubs just six days after their victory over Westmeath.

But Brennan will loosen the shackles on his charges, calling it a "free match" for them to go hell for leather.

“Dublin are definitely a different animal now, but so are we,” Brennan told the Leinster Express.

“We are up against it, but it’s one we’re not going to shy away from. If you told be at the start of the year we’d have Dublin coming down to play us in O’Moore Park in a preliminary-quarterfinal I’d take the hand clean off ya.

“I think the players themselves will rise to that challenge. They’re that type of group to be honest with you. Their mindset has changed so much in the last few months that they’re enjoying this.

“In a way it’s a free match for them, they can really go and let fly in that as much as they let fly.”
