Lao woman killed, four wounded in Nakhon Phanom accident

NAKHON PHANOM: A Lao woman was killed and four other people injured when a pick-up truck they were travelling in skidded off a sharp curve and rammed into a power post in That Phanom district early on Sunday.

Police said the accident occurred at about 2am on a sharp bend near Ban Bung Hi in tambon Phra Klang Thung on the road between That Phanom and Renu Nakhon districts.

A police investigation revealed that the pick-up truck, heading for Renu Nakhon district with five people on board, was travelling at high speed when the accident took place.

Driver Wissanuwat Chaiyawong, 26, Nitnai Nongudom, 25, and two Lao women - Laew Keophut, 22, and Fa Si-outhai, 22 - were injured. Another Lao woman - Souk Saengsakda, 22, was killed.

The vehicle was badly damaged. Police were investigating.
