Lanzini, Cresswell, Nasri - latest West Ham injury news & potential return dates ahead of Leicester

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini saw one of his players leave the field during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday with a potentially big injury blow during the second half.

Manuel Lanzini suffered what appeared to be a groin strain after playing a simple pass across field, received treatment on it then carried on. However, a minute or so later he was back on the deck with the same issue and withdrawn from the action.

The Argentine is expected to have a scan this week to determine the extent of the problem but he is an early and serious doubt for the visit of Leicester City this weekend.

Aaron Cresswell missed the defeat at Old Trafford through a minor knee injury, football.london has learned, and was replaced in the side by the impressive Arthur Masuaku. The DR Congo defender may well keep his spot this weekend even if Cresswell returns from injury to the squad.

Four strikers West Ham were linked with in January that could make a summer transfer move

Marko Arnautovic also missed out at the weekend through illness that allowed him to train only last Friday ahead of the game. He is expected to be fine for this weekend when the Foxes visit.

Last week, the Hammers were handed a boost for the Premier League run-in as long-term injury victim Carlos Sanchez returned to first team training following seven months out with a serious knee injury. Pellegrini has hinted the Colombian could see some game time before the end of the season.

Two who won't though are Andriy Yarmolenko and Winston Reid as the manager has decided to sit them down for the remainder of the campaign and protect them ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Rarely a week goes by without the Hammers seeming to pick up a new injury problem for one of their players and the current tally of first team players out stands at eight as we head into the final five games of the season.
