Motorcyclist critical after Lanyon Drive collision

Travel on a major road linking Jerrabomberra and Queanbeyan has been disrupted following a crash between a car and a motorcycle, adding to the frustration for motorists already contending with the effects of road closures caused by bushfires burning south of Braidwood.

New South Wales police said a 74-year-old motorcyclist collided with a Toyota Yaris sedan on McCrae Street, near Lanyon Drive, shortly before 3.20pm.

The motorcyclist was taken to Queanbeyan Hospital in a critical but stable condition. The male driver, 57, was not injured and was taken to the hospital for mandatory testing.

Police had closed northbound lanes of Lanyon Drive following the collision and a crime scene was established. Crash Investigation Unit officers are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
