A language pledge will be taken in all schools on Monday on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.
The language pledge would be taken at 11 a.m. on Monday, a statement from the office of Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty said. It would be taken on class basis, adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Malayalam language experts, writers, and cultural leaders, and people’s representatives, would participate in the event in schools.
Mr. Sivankutty would participate in the pledge function at Government Girls High School, Pattom.
The Minister said inclusion of the Malayalam alphabet in textbooks as part of curriculum revision would be considered by the curriculum committee. The General Education Department would roll out various projects for the development of Malayalam that was the mother tongue, he said.
