It’s looking like we are going to have to wait a little longer for second-year wing Romeo Langford to make his season debut for the Boston Celtics.
Langford, who has been out since last season’s playoffs with a torn tendon in his wrist he has since been rehabilitating, had been rumored to return soon after the All-Star break by teammate Daniel Theis. At the team’s first post-practice press conference since before the All-Star game on Wednesday, head coach Brad Stevens was asked about Langford’s participation. “Everybody practiced but Romeo,” revealed Stevens. “Romeo was out because of health and safety protocols, he was cleared to clear to play.”
Explaining he did not know what exactly that meant for the young wing going forward regarding COVID-19 positivity, but added that he did not practice with the team and that “he will not travel with us” on the team’s two road games against the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets.

Presumably more information will be forthcoming about Langford’s situation in the coming days, but for now all we can do is wait and hope it isn’t anything serious.
