Laneway Festival is packing its bags and officially ditching Brisbane for the Gold Coast in 2026, with organisers confirming Southport Sharks as the new Queensland home. After nearly a decade of sweaty singalongs in Brissy, the festival is moving on because the current site is earmarked for development ahead of the 2032 Olympics — so you can thank upcoming stadium works for the shuffle.
The Gold Coast stop is being billed as “intimate yet expansive” (yes, both at once), with Laneway promising easier stage-hopping, decent public transport links and a “world-class” setup when it debuts there on Saturday 7 February.

Other stops on the road trip
It’s not just Queensland getting a location glow-up. Adelaide fans will now be heading to the Showgrounds, while Perth punters get a slicker setup at Arena Joondalup for the 2026 run.
Sydney stays put at Centennial Park, Melbourne’s back at Flemington Park, and Auckland’s Western Springs keeps things moving on the other side of the ditch.
Laneway Festival co-founders Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio said, “Every year we’re blown away by the response from the artists, fans, and community that make Laneway so special — 2026 is about honouring that history while looking to the future.”
The part you actually care about: the Laneway lineup
The artist announcement isn’t here yet, but you won’t have to wait too long. The full list drops on Thursday 18 September at 8.10am AEST. Until then, the best anyone’s working with are whispers and rumour mills. And if you’ve been scrolling TikTok or Twitter/X, you may have noticed Role Model, KATSEYE and Chappell Roan are all names being thrown around as possible headliners. Nothing is confirmed, but the speculation is giving very believable energy this time around.
