Lanes closed and long delays on M1 near Leeds after pedestrian hit by car

There are two lanes closed and after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian just before 12.10pm on Wednesday November 4.

The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the incident near junction 47 of the M1, on the southbound carriageway.

Two lanes remain closed between junction 47 (A656 Garforth/Micklefield) and junction 46 (A6120 Selby Road/ Leeds Colton/Garforth).

There is congestion to the A1(M) at junction 45 for Boston Spa.

Highways England has warned the lanes will remain closed until around 4pm.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called just before 12.10pm earlier this afternoon to reports of a collision near Junction 47 of the M1 on the southbound carriageway.

"It involved a vehicle and a pedestrian who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A road closure was put in place between J47 and 46.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
