It was in the gutter - but a North Shields bowling alley is set to be resurrected thanks to Lane7.
Star Bowl, at Royal Quays, closed suddenly back in February.
But new plans lodged by Lane7 show the North East boutique bowling firm want to reopen the unit and keep it as an alley.
The rapidly expanding firm already has branches in Newcastle and Middlesbrough, with a Durham site opening soon.
Now bosses have submitted a licence for the former Star Bowl unit - which they want to keep open daily until 2am.
ChronicleLive contacted Lane7 for further comment on the plans.
However public documents state the venue would be a "tenpin bowling centre together with (an) ancillary amusement arcade and gaming, licenced bar and restaurant facilities".
Star Bowl shut after parent firm MFA entered administration, bringing and end to half the company's 12 sites.
It was announced with a sign on the entrance which stated: “This site is now closed for business. We would like to thank our customers for all their support and apologise for any inconvenience this closure may have caused.”
The firm's Sunderland site also closed, later reopening as Disco Bowl.
Now there's set to be a similar new lease of life at the Royal Quays site thanks to the Darlington-based firm Lane7.
Since opening in an old Newcastle warehouse, Lane7 has expanded across Britain with alleys as far away as Aberdeen, making it the largest independent bowling firm in the country.
Besides bowling, the Newcastle site also offers mini golf, ping and beer pong and karaoke.
