Lane Kiffin Touts Son’s Football Skills, Reveals His Top Five Schools

When Lane Kiffin is not recruiting the next greatest athlete to come play for Ole Miss or trolling Alabama’s Nick Saban, he is advocating for his son’s college football future.

On Tuesday, Kiffin tweeted a video of Knox, his middle-school aged son, rolling out to his left and slinging a deep ball down the field to a receiver. But in sharing the video, Kiffin made sure the official Volunteers football account on Twitter did not miss the memo.

“@Vol_Football Bring the boy home,” Kiffin tweeted.

The caption is connection to Kiffin’s time as a head coach at Tennessee in 2009 before he jetted west to become the coach at USC. But it also points to Knox, who is named after the city of Knoxville, Tenn., the program’s home.

Kiffin’s video of Knox comes four days after he shared five schools that Knox is currently interested in. They include Oregon, Florida, Texas, Georgia and of course, Ole Miss.

While Knox—a 2028 recruit—still has another five years before he takes his talents to the collegiate ranks, it is never too early to start thinking about the future. Kiffin knows a thing or two about watching film and looking at tape of young, up-in-coming stars in the sport.

Who knows, Knox could end up playing for his dad, creating an even more intense rivalry with Tennessee in the years to come. After all, Kiffin signed a six-year contract extension with rollover provisions that would extend to eight years on Jan. 10.

Because Mississippi allows state employees to have contracts longer than four years, Knox could be under center in a Rebels uniform with his dad at the helm. That is, however, if he doesn’t go “home” to Tennessee.
