Lane Johnson recruiting J.J. Watt to the Eagles after he’s released by the Texans

When big moves are happening around the NFL, other players usually take to social media to offer congratulations or simply to let guys know they are watching.

J.J. Watt was just released by the Houston Texans after 10 years with the franchise.

Watt was drafted by the Texans in 2011 with the No. 11 pick and has gone on to win three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, making the former Wisconsin Badger one of three players to win that award three times.

After his release, Steelers star T.J. Watt and Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson engaged in a bit of early recruiting of the former Texans star.

Watt, who has 101 career sacks, had one year remaining on his deal and was owed $17.5 million in 2021.

The future Hall of Fame defensive end is free to sign with another team and it’s unlikely to be the Eagles, who are rebuilding and dealing with salary cap issues.

It was a strong attempt by Johnson though.
