Lane7 will open a new premium family bowling alley and entertainment centre in North Shields this week.
Gutterball Alley launches in the former Star Bowl, near Royal Quays and Wet & Wild, in North Shields on Friday December 13. The old venue has been completely reovated.
The new decor, the owners say, is "premium" and not what bowlers would associate with older alleys and venues. Lane7's first venue - for adults - opened in Newcastle, six years ago. It is packed with ping pong, pool, mini golf and games, as well as bowling. Gutterball is aimed at the family market.
The new venue will feature 16 full-length bowling lanes, several ping-pong tables, almost 60 arcade games, a nine-hole mini golf course, batting cages, food offering and bar.
Tim Wilks, owner of Gutterball Alley, said: "We wanted to bring the soul and flavour of Lane7 paired with a family friendly offer.
"Gutterball Alley is for the parents who dread a trip to lifeless entertainment venues that cater only for kids. Our new venue is a premium family-friendly entertainment destination that has something for everyone to enjoy.
"We’ve invested in the parent’s experience as much as the children. Expect fresh coffee, local craft beer from Flash House Brewing, access to Sky Sports and much more."
The Gutterball team spent two months refurbishing the former Star Bowl.
Mr Wilks added: "We’ve learned so much in the last five years from operating in the bowling and entertainment market. We want to use that knowledge and replicate it in the family market with the hopes of another success we can then build on."
