Landslide caused by heavy rain shuts major Highlands road and blocks route for motorists

A busy Highlands road has been shut after a landslide blocked the route in both directions.

Police have issued a warning to drivers after the closure of the A830 near Lochailort close to Glenfinnan.

It comes after heavy rain and storm warnings continue to batter most of Scotland.

Forecasters have issued another yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Scotland as the wet spell continues.

A Met Office warning is in place for much of southern and eastern Scotland from midday to 9pm tomorrow.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A830 near to Lochailort is currently closed due to a landslide. Emergency services are attending and people are asked to avoid the area.”
