Landon Collins sounds ready to get some revenge on Giants

Washington Redskins safety Landon Collins didn’t see his career playing out this way — and he’s ready to do something about it.

Speaking with Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com, Collins revealed the New York Giants never offered him a contract before the Redskins reached out and made him the league’s highest-paid safety.

“I’m starting a new chapter and I’m on a good team,” Collins said. “When I left the Giants, I was kind of heartbroken. I loved the Giants. When I started there, I wanted to finish there.”

Collins said he saw the writing on the wall when the trade rumors popped up near the deadline last year and kept is simple: “I’ve got a lot of motivation for the next six years.”

The Redskins doled out an $84 million deal to convince Collins to stick in the NFC East. But he didn’t need a ton of convincing: not only was one of his idols Sean Taylor, playing for the Redskins means two shots at the Giants each season.

Both parties get what they want in the end, with Collins sounding ready to get to work for his new team as soon as possible.
