Landon Collins says he will be ready to go by Training Camp

It’s been a busy off-season for the Washington Redskins, and the team has been making moves all over the field in attempts to bolster their talent and eventually make a playoff run.

After a highly successful NFL Draft, a handful of contract extensions, and so much injury news that you start to lose track who is healthy or not, it would be easy to forget that the Redskins kicked of NFL Free Agency with a splash, by giving a Pro Bowl safety a hefty multi-year deal.

His name is Landon Collins, and come training camp, he will be ready to play.

“I’m taking the right steps towards being fully healthy and ready for the season,” Collins said, via Redskins.com. “I want to go out there for OTAs, but they need me on Sundays.”

Collins told Redskins.com that he and coach Jay Gruden have talked a lot about his recovery process, and they feel confident that he will be ready to play when the time comes in July. The 25-year-old safety had shoulder surgery in December, but he maintains that his rehab is going well.

While his new teammates are getting work in during OTAs this week, Collins has been seen on the sidelines, sporting the burgundy and gold. We all know he wants to be out there getting reps, but what matters more is his desire to be with the team on Sunday. That’s when the real plays are made.
