Landon Collins says he couldn’t be himself with Giants

Washington Redskins safety Landon Collins naturally found himself involved in a scuffle of sorts after his team’s game against the New York Giants in Week 4.

Collins had spent plenty of the offseason talking about the Giants, so the event wasn’t too surprising.

After the game, Collins had more to say, largely because he had hinted in New York he wasn’t permitted to be himself. according to SI.com’s
Patricia Traina:

Collins’ words about being himself raised an eyebrow or two among reporters gathered around his locker, so he was asked if he thought he wasn’t allowed to be himself while with the Giants.

“No,” he said.

Why not?

“I can’t answer that.”

There has always been a well-known beef between Collins and Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, so that figures to be the topic here.

Either way, Collins won’t get another crack at Gettleman’s team until Week 16, which goes down in New York, making it even more intriguing.

Whether the game means anything for the Redskins will come down to not only the quarterback question mark but whether Collins’ defense can pull it together.
