Landon Collins says goodbye to Giants in somber Twitter post

The New York Giants will not place the franchise tag on safety Landon Collins, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent in a market that is actively readying itself for him.

The decision of general manager Dave Gettleman to let Collins walk is a curious one, but it had become evident in recent days that was the inevitable end to this journey.

After being informed that he would not be franchised, Collins took to Twitter to say goodbye to the Giants, his teammates and the fans.

Collins, a second-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, appeared in 59 career games for the Giants, recording 437 tackles, 22 stuffs, four sacks, eight interceptions and 32 passes defensed. He was named to the Pro Bowl three times and was the runner up to Khalil Mack for NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.

Additionally, Collins was named a First Team All-Pro in 2016 and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2015.
