Landon Collins plans to take out ‘a lot of aggression’ against Giants

Washington Redskins safety Landon Collins will soon hear from the NFL over his threat to “run over” New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman prior to one of their NFC East showdowns this season, but that hasn’t stopped him from taking aim at his former team.

Collins was at it again over the weekend, desperately obsessing over his former team and making subtle threats that don’t actually rest in any sort of reality.

“For me, it’s going to be a lot of aggression,” Collins told reporters. “When I go to those types of games, I go to my college times. I was from Louisiana and I was playing LSU [while at Alabama]. So just being able to keep my composure as much as possible, keep my emotions in check and play within my defense.

“When you go against a team that you have some aggression against, you want to let some self-esteem out. You want to pick your times and pick your moments to do that. You got to be able to control it at the end of the day because it could hurt the team more than it could help. From that standpoint, I just got to keep the emotions under control.”

Yawn.

For a player trying to integrate into a new setting and learn a new playbook, Collins continues to spend an inordinate amount of time obsessing over the Giants. And at this point, he’s winning the race against Odell Beckham Jr. for the title of “most sour ex” — a title they both seem desperate to hold.

The Giants and Redskins will meet in Week 4 at MetLife Stadium. Should Collins somehow manage to remain healthy that long, it will certainly make for an interesting few hours.
