Landon Collins named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for performance vs. Miami

While his team finally notched a big victory on the field Sunday, Redskins safety Landon Collins is reaping the rewards. Earlier this week, it was announced that Collins was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career.

In Washington’s three dominant quarters against the Miami Dolphins, Collins provided great support in both pass defense and the run game, finishing with 12 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and two passes defended. The performance earned Collins a grade of 76.3 from Pro Football Focus and helped the Redskins to hold Miami to just three points through three quarters.

Up next, Collins will undoubtedly have a much tougher job on his hands as Washington prepares to play host to the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, led by QB Jimmy Garoppolo and a revitalized running game. If Collins can have another performance like he did last week, the Redskins just might be able to keep this game close.
