Landon Collins makes his Redskins OTAs debut after injury rehab

The Washington Redskins finally got Landon Collins on the field for OTAs.

Collins had been restricted in his offseason work while recovering from offseason surgery to correct a torn labrum in his shoulder. That issue, of course, didn’t stop the Redskins from giving him a massive deal in free agency.

Tuesday, Collins was out there like normal in seven-on-seven looks and got some time in 11-on-11 work as well.

“I can’t take no time off,” Collins said, according to Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post. “That’s just me. I can’t sit around. I’ve been sitting around the past three [offseasons] I’ve been hurt. Just getting out here getting the reps, getting the guys underneath my belt and stuff like that. Just getting hand-to-hand combat, it helps a lot.”

The appearance is a big boon for a defense already concerned enough with finding a starter for next to Collins in the secondary.

Barring something unforeseen, this should clear the way for Collins as far as the rest of the summer is concerned.
