Landon Collins makes his goals for OTAs clear

Washington Redskins safety Landon Collins isn’t taking long at OTAs to stake his claim and make his intentions known.

Collins returned from surgery rehab this week and looked the expected part for the defense. Following practice, he hit the interview circuit after finally putting some real work in with his new team.

Other than stressing communication, Collins said the following, according to NBC Sports Washington’s Peter Hailey: “Going through the process, making sure I’m right for my teammates, making sure my guys are right for themselves.”

Given the nature of his resume and contract, Collins is expected to assume a leadership role right out of the gates. He’s clearly doing so, which will be even more important during training camp once the battle for the right to start at the other safety spot really gets underway.

For now, Collins has already hit on an expected note and Redskins are safe in presuming this is just the beginning from their new defensive leader.
