Landon Collins’ locker status a point of debate between media members

Will safety Landon Collins be back with the New York Giants in 2019? That question is certainly up for debate, but the overriding belief is that the team will designate Collins their franchise player before the deadline ultimately arrives.

However, those waters were disputed on Wednesday when a ripple interrupted the calm as ESPN’s Josina Anderson, citing sources, reported that Collins had cleaned out his locker in East Rutherford and shared his goodbye with teammates and coaches.

Almost immediately, Anderson’s tweets were disputed by beat writers for the team, and some of it even got personal.

Former Giants who had spoken with Collins on Wednesday after his rehab session also chimed in.

Despite it all, Anderson stood by her tweet and amidst the understandable outrage, Collins chimed in with his own take, seemingly in an effort to call off the wolves without entirely confirming what she had reported.

Contract negotiations are an interesting thing and sometimes get ugly, so as we at Giants Wire mentioned earlier, take all of this with a grain of salt.

The expectation remains that Collins will be tendered the franchise tag as he and the Giants eventually work out a long-term deal.
