Lando Norris identifies his best trait and issues Formula 1 Championship prediction

Lando Norris believes his best performances have been in races this season, building on from his previous excelling performances in qualifying.

The Bristol-born driver has performed well with McClaren this season, with three podium finishes in the first half of the season.

The 21-year-old will be looking to build upon that when the season resumes in Belgium next week, as he chases a first win in his career.

Progress has been made this year on race days, as Norris had just one podium prior to this season, and he identified those improvements.

“In the past two years the qualifying, this year the race," he told Sky Italia when asked his thoughts regarding his best quality.

“The development was good every year. I think qualifying – if I have to choose one, it would be qualifying. But this year I’m more confident in the race than in qualifying. It changes every year.”

Norris currently sits third in the Driver's Championship, behind Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, but only a remarkable sequence of events would see the McClaren driver compete for the title.

In regards to his thoughts on the matter though, he predicted an end to the dominance of Hamilton and Mercedes.

“I think Max [will win]. The Mercedes seems a bit less consistent than Red Bull. Red Bull seem a bit more balanced, while the Mercedes either go fast or struggle. I would say Max, but it will be very close.”

Norris is back in action next week following the mid-season break, with qualifying in Belgium on Saturday followed by the race on Sunday.
