Lando Norris grabs eighth place in Azerbaijan Grand Prix as Bristolian climbs drivers championship

Lando Norris has finished eighth in the Azerbaijan Formula One race held in Baku.

The Bristolian finished one place behind McLaren teammate Carlos Sainz Jr, with Valterri Bottas claiming the overall win over Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Norris impressed and now goes up to 10th position in the Drivers Championship, with four races having now been completed in this season's campaign.

The position marks a big improvement on the Chinese Grand Prix when the former Millfield School pupil had to retire from the race early.

The official McLaren Twitter feed commented upon the final result: 'A double points finish for the team as the chequered flag waves in Baku. Carlos finishes in P7, Lando P8. Nice job, team'.

The official McLaren website recorded Norris as recording a faster fastest lap than his teammate, but in the end the 19-year-old had to settle for one place further back.

Meanwhile, for the fourth race in a row, Ferrari were unable to challenge the dominant Mercedes - as comentators question the various race strategies in pace for all of the teams.

The fifth race of the season is in Barcelona as the Spanish Grand Prix takes place from 10-12 May.
