Landmark Liverpool building you will have driven past up for sale for £1.5m

A south Liverpool landmark that sits at a prominent junction in the city is up for sale for £1.5million.

Nightingale House sits on Princes Road, close to the junction with Upper Parliament Street, meaning many heading into the city centre from Princes Park and surrounding areas by car will see it.

It used to house the old Queen Victoria District Nursing Association and it is believed Florence Nightingale worked there for a period, however it has been used for housing in recent years.

The building is distinctive, consisting mainly of red brick with detailing in lighter masonry. It also has a small tower-like structure on its otherwise flat roof.

Sale signs can be seen on the property, which most recently operated as a hostel for young people and students.

According to a statement on the website of estate agents Venmore, the property is being marketed at £1.5m, with an indication that it is now under offer.

A description of the property said: “The property is of Victorian origin and comprises a student hall of residence which was converted from its previous usage of a hostel in 2011.

“The property, arranged over a basement and three upper floors, comprises of 36 student rooms of various sizes as well as communal facilities including kitchens, bathrooms, shower rooms and lounges. Furthermore there is also an office, store and plant room.”

The use of the property as student accommodation reflects its location.

Sitting close to the edge of the Georgian Quarter, Nightingale House is close to the University of Liverpool, Liverpool Academy of Performing Arts and John Moores University.
