Landmark bar and restaurant opens back up in Cardiff Bay

The Dock in Cardiff Bay has officially reopened under new management after it previously announced its closure in December 2022. The popular bar in Mermaid Quay announced the news on its Facebook page earlier today.

On Friday, January 27, the Facebook post stated: "The day has finally come! We're excited to re-open our doors today as the newest member of the Croeso Pubs family! With live sport all day, happy hour from 4pm, live music from No Direction at 5pm and a DJ til' late!"

The bar previously announced its final quiz night on December 29 last year. However, Croeso Pubs - a company behind some of Cardiff's most well-known venues - announced earlier this month that it is adding The Dock to its portfolio. After originally opening as Terra Nova, the bar underwent a £ 1.25 million refurbishment in 2016 and was renamed The Dock. The former Marstons Brains pub will now be managed by the south Wales pub chain, which runs five venues in the city centre including The Philharmonic, Brewhouse, Retro, Blue Bell, and Daffodil.

Croeso Pub Ltd took over the former Brains pub 33 Windsor Place in December 2021 and reopened it as gastropub Daffodil. You can read our review of the Daffodil here. The chain also refurbished the Goat Major pub on High Street and reinstated its original name, Blue Bell, in 2021.

The bar will host daily live music to entertain customers at The Dock and will be showing major sporting events, with Sky, Amazon, BT, and Viaplay packages. The Dock will be open seven days a week, from 12pm - 12am on Sundays to Thursdays and 12pm - 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
