Landlord trying to rent out toilet with mini-fridge and desk as 'office space'

A lucky workforce could soon find themselves stapling reams of paper together and sending faxes from a toilet.

A landlord in central Glasgow has put an unusual office set up on Gumtree.

For just £50 a week tenants can rent a bathroom with a desk and kettle added in.

The ‘property’ has a toilet beneath a medium sized window, a mini fridge, kettle, books, a desk, lamps, a chair and instant coffee.

It is clear from the photographs that the toilet and food facilities are remarkably close.

The landlord wrote on Gumtree: "Small and compact space ideal for solo working.

"Located on the 1st floor of a tenement building in Partick, the space has its own private entrance.

"Included is fibre broadband connection, 2 x desks, mini fridge, toilet and sink, underfloor heating, lamps, mains supply, kettle.

"It’s a nice quiet spot and was recently converted. Available from 8am to 6pm Mon to Fri and would provide keys to longer term renters."

Since the advert was added to the website more than a month ago it has not received much positive reaction.

"Someone in Partick is renting their s***er out as an office," one person wrote in response to the ad.

Another quipped: "Zoom calls on the throne".

"Kay where is the shower? What about wet paperwork? There is a claim there waiting to happen," a third questioned.

A bargain priced house has gone on the market on the outskirts of Glasgow (Future Property Auctions)

In other property news, a pristine-looking flat has gone on the market as one of the cheapest in the UK for a bargain basement £12,000.

While property prices are a constant cause of complaint for many Brits who fear whether they will ever be able to get on the housing ladder - this Scottish flat is readily attainable and has plenty to offer.

The one-bed home is in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, and it has been described as the “perfect renter property”.

Not far from the centre of Glasgow, it is easily within commuting distance and yet its price is around half the cost of a parking space in Glasgow city centre.

A parking space in the Candlerigg’s Q-Park on Merchant City’s ALbion Street is reportedly worth £22,000.
