Landlord of one of Nottingham's oldest pubs gets married in fancy dress at the Council House

Happy couple Jason and Rae Weston tied the knot in style at their fancy dress wedding in Nottingham.

Onlookers clapped as the loved-up pair emerged from the Council House - Jason as a pirate and Rae as a bride, with a spectacular white feathered headdress and bling.

Joining them for their special union were friends and family in all manner of impressive costumes - from Robin Hoods, the Queen of Hearts, pirates, demons and highwaymen.

Basking in the late summer sunshine on Saturday September 21, the happy party headed over to Ye Olde Salutation Inn where Jason is landlord.

He met Rae when she came for a job and their friendship blossomed.

"It went on from there," said 49-year-old Jason. "We got on really well straight away and, as time went on, it became something more".

This is Jason's second marriage. He is dad to six children and four grandchildren.

Of the idea for their wedding day, he said: "It was fancy dress or dress fancy!"

After their union was made official by a registrar, he said: "We got quite a few people saying 'what's going on' and 'what's happening?'. We said 'we have got married!'"

The couple had five bridesmaids and four best men.

Their honeymoon will be in Malta.

As 23-year-old Rae, a bar supervisor, mingled with her guests, she said happily: "We are both crazy but in a good way. I just love him. He's just different. I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with him".
