Land Rover almost submerged after getting stuck in sand on Llanelli beach

It seems the driver of this Land Rover Discovery learned the hard way that sand and combustion engines don't mix.

The vehicle was spotted by several people overnight and into today after it became stuck fast in the sand at North Dock beach in Llanelli .

The tide had risen overnight, and in one picture the vehicle was submerged almost up to its bonnet.

Police later put out a warning on Twitter, urging drivers to avoid the beach.

It advised against unauthorised vehicles using North Dock beach, and said the car pictured had been used to cause anti-social behaviour before it got stuck.

The tweet hashtagged the word #doughnut, which is used to refer to marks made by tyres when a vehicle is driven rapidly in a circle.

A Dyfed-Powys police spokesman said the owner was arranging recovery of the vehicle.
