Land revenue joint commissioner inspects files at Fort Kochi RDO

KOCHI: Joint commissioner of land revenue started an enquiry into the death of 57-year-old K Sajeevan, a labourer who was found hanging from a tree in Vadakkekara.

Geromic George, joint commissioner of land revenue, inspected files at Fort Kochi revenue divisonal office (RDO) and spoke to the officials concerned on Saturday in connection with the case.

Sajeevan, who faced a debt of Rs 20 lakhs, was found hanging from a tree on Thursday. His effort to get the property, recorded as a wetland in revenue records, to convert into dryland had not been materialized. This allegedly deprived him of availing bank loan by pledging the property, forcing him to take the drastic step.

The revenue minister sought a report from the land revenue commissioner regarding the allegation that officials had delayed taking steps on his application at the Fort Kochi RDO office.

However, the report by the RDO to the district collector denied the allegations.
