Alex and Conner have been through a lot in their (almost) 12 years. Their dad died recently, and he used to tell the most amazing fairy tales about other worlds where animals could talk and you could be anyone you want. When the twins receive a special family fairytale book, they have no clue what powers it holds.
One day, they enter the book to the Land of Stories: home to every known fairytale character, the good and the bad. They hear about the wishing spell, where you collect together seven items which symbolize some of our most loved fairy tales. Then a wish is made. They have to journey into kingdoms of fairies, goblins and face wolf packs. Along the way, they see fairytale castles come to life and meet legendary people, like Goldilocks, who is now an innocent person wanted in 5 kingdoms and Red Riding Hood, a spoiled young woman and many more…
However, the twins know time is running out. They have the Evil Queen chasing after them, and she wants the items for the wishing spell as well. The wishing spell can only be used once, so will they ever get home?
I really enjoyed reading the Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell. I found it so imaginative and descriptive that I felt I was there and the world was so clear in my head. I would recommend it for ages 9+
