Lancefield Quay reopens 11 days after massive fire in block of flats

Lancefield Quay has reopened to the public 11 days after it was closed following a massive fire in a block of flats on the road.

Traffic and pedestrians can use the street once again after it was reopened at around 9pm last night.

On Monday, December 9, fire crews rushed to the scene by the River Clyde to tackle a "well-developed" fire within the second floor of the three-storey building at around 7pm.

Firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night and emergency services remained at the scene for over a week after it was contained.

The following streets have now been reopened to all vehicles:

  • Lancefield Quay between Hydepark Street and Elliot Street
  • Lancefield Quay eastbound at the junction with Finnieston Street / The Clyde Arc Bridge.
  • Anderston Quay westbound at the junction with North Street.
