The Lancashire Evening Telegraph has launched a campaign to help prevent children from being lured into the world of drugs and underage sex. Its "Keep Them Safe" initiative came about after an investigation by the paper showed that up to 100 girls aged between 12 and 16 had been approached or targeted by predatory older men in East Lancashire. Evening Telegraph editor Kevin Young told holdthefrontpage: "Our prime aim is to protect the victims." The campaign is backed by the local police, Muslim community leaders and Blackburn's MP, Jack Straw. (Via lancashireevening telegraph.co.uk)
