Lanarkshire told 'loved ones can hug again' as First Minister updates lockdown rules

Loved ones will be able to hug each other again as of Monday, as Nicola Sturgeon confirmed Lanarkshire will move into Level 2 of lockdown rules.

The restrictions will be more eased than planned with six people from three households now allowed to meet in each other’s homes - where they can also stay overnight.

This has changed from the original four people from two households originally set out for Level 2.

At today’s briefing, the First Minister said: “I know how much people have been looking forward to doing this again, it’s one of the simple pleasures we’ve missed.

“If you are meeting friends and family indoors, our guidance is still to remain cautious.

“From Monday, as long as you stay within permitted limits, you can hug loved ones again.

“Please use careful judgement, close physical contact still carries considerable risk. Enjoy those moments when they come in just under a week’s time.

“They have been greatly missed and hard earned by all of us.”

Level 2 restrictions will also include the reopening of indoor venues, with pubs and restaurants able to sell alcohol indoors until 10.30pm.

Six adults from three households will be able to meet in a cafés, pubs and restaurants from Monday.

The update comes as Ms Sturgeon announced most of Scotland is currently recording 23 cases per week for every 100,000 people.

She added: "The situation now is a very positive one which allows us to relax restrictions and resume more normality."
