Lanarkshire summer fair raises hundreds for autism charity

A Lanarkshire fair managed to raise hundreds for charity.

The National Autistic Society (South Lanarkshire Branch) collected £400 from their first ever summer event.

The fair was held on Saturday, July 23, at the Nurture building in Cambuslang between 11am and 3pm.

Paula McNee, one of the volunteers who helped organise the event, told Lanarkshire Live : “The day went really well. It was really busy.

"We had stalls for tea and coffee and a tombola. We had a dance group as well.

Many people turned up on the day to celebrate (Rutherglen Reformer)

“The animals and the fire brigade were a great hit. I think it will be something that we will try and do again next year.

“Everyone had a great time. Some of the volunteers from the North Lanarkshire branch came over and helped us. I think we raised around roughly £400.

“A lot of people that came got a lot of information on autism, one of the mums that came along didn’t really know where to turn to, and she ended up spending the full day and had a great time.”
