Lanarkshire students help raise £20K for Wishaw charity

Generous students at New College Lanarkshire have helped a Wishaw charity raise £20,000 in three months.

The group at the Motherwell based college were keen to help St Aidan’s Shining Stars after hearing of their fundraising efforts.

The parents, whose kids are in primary one at the learning and communication support centre (LCSC) within the school, recently set up the charity in a bid to raise £60,000 to build a sensory garden for their autistic children.

The students presented them with a cheque for £700 after holding a bingo night, sponsored walk and bake sale in their honour.

Parent Elaine Hamilton said: “Thank you to everyone involved.

“We’re very grateful for the support.”
