Lanarkshire slimming experts open new weight loss groups

Two Lanarkshire slimmers are set to create new communities of people starting their own weight loss journey – and are ready to share how it can be done in the current cost-of-living crisis.

Lynda Harrison, from Carluke, lost three stone with the help of her local Slimming World group and she is now relishing helping others with their weight loss journey, whilst also advising people on how to do so in the current cost of living crisis.

Lynda told Lanarkshire Live : “Unsurprisingly, the cost of living and food prices has been a hot topic in recent weeks.

"I’m always amazed by what a treasure trove of useful information my Slimming World group is and can’t wait to pass this onto my new members too.

"Members share low-cost recipes and top tips for saving money, as well as tracking down bargains and special offers, so it’s easy to know where to go for the best deals locally. We often pop them on our closed Facebook group too.

“There’s no better place for support to help put you in control than a Slimming World group, where there will be absolutely no judgement – just understanding, trust, friendship, community spirit and lots of fun and laughter.”

Meanwhile, Sandra Ross, from Lesmahagow, has her mojo back and feels fantastic after losing 2st 5lbs at her local Slimming World group.

Her amazing success, with the help of Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan, Body Magic Activity Programme and the togetherness of the group support, has left Sandra feeling great and ready to reach out and support people in Lesmahagow by running her own group.

Sandra told us : "Returning from a holiday with my family and friends was a turning point for me, looking back at the holiday photos I was so unhappy and my weight physically affected me.

"My confidence was at an all time low.

“I was really touched to be crowned Woman of the Year at my local group and I am so excited to bring people together as losing weight can be an especially lonely place and I know together we can do it."

Sandra added: “There’s no judgement or humiliation, just kindness, care and respect."
