Lanarkshire shop donates community raised cash to local charity partner

A Lanarkshire business has raised money for a local charity thanks to their kind-hearted customers.

The Original Factory Shop in Shotts raised £179.81 for charity partner, Paul's Parcels, in the run-up to Christmas.

Money was raised by the local community through charity boxes, donations made to the store's charity fund, swiping loyalty club members' cards, and buying carrier bags.

Pauls Parcels are a Shotts-based food poverty prevention group that aims to provide nourishing food for families and to provide them with fresh protein, dairy, fruit and veg on a weekly basis.

This money will allow Paul's Parcels to help the most vulnerable in the community as Christmas approaches.

Store manager Helen McGookin told Lanarkshire Live : "We're really excited that we and our customers have helped to raise £179.81 for Paul's Parcels, our chosen charity.

"What they do is invaluable for the local area and we'd like to think that this effort will go some small way to supporting their work in the community.

"As a company, this year we have decided to support local charities in our towns, and in March we asked our customers through Facebook which charity they would like us to support."
