Lanarkshire sheltered housing complex enjoys Platinum Jubilee tea party

Residents of a sheltered housing complex in Rutherglen were treated to a right royal celebration last Thursday.

Thanks to the help of Asda Toryglen Community Champion, Elizabeth Arbuckle, who also volunteers with LEAP, the residents at Loch Brae were all set to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration.

She told Lanarkshire Live: "This funding is a real chance to get the local community together on a very special occasion. The residents and volunteers from Leap had been working towards the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration and wanted to mark this historic milestone with their very own party.

"The group got creative and made flowers to decorate a banner what would hang in their community hall. They were also treated to an old fashioned vintage tea party with sandwiches, sausage rolls, tea and cupcakes followed by entertainment.

"The end result was a party fit for a queen with everyone coming together making this a day to remember and memories for life."
