A Lanarkshire schoolgirl has raised hundreds of pounds for a veterans charity in memory of her grandfather.
Eight-year-old Summer Blyth was inspired by her late Papa, former Territorial Army Reservist James Thomson, who was also a dedicated fundraiser.
The Woodpark Primary pupil spent her summer holidays on a charity mission which saw her in her local Tesco, car boot sales, as well as her school, trying to raise cash for veterans charity Erskine.
Summer, from Lesmahagow, even bought items to sell from her own pocket money and raised a fantastic sum of £626.35 in total.
Her exceptional work has brought huge praise from Erskine Veterans after she well and truly did her papa proud following in his charitable footsteps.
Over the years veteran James fundraised to help Veterans in The Erskine Home, one of four belonging to Scotland’s largest Veterans charity Erskine.
Such was the influence James had on his family, his grand-daughter Summer was more than happy to dedicate her time throughout the summer months for the worthy cause.
Erskine Community Fundraiser Jim Watret told Lanarkshire Live : “What Summer has done throughout the school holidays has been absolutely amazing.
"She has been so determined to get out in all weathers to raise funds for her papa’s favourite charity that she truly is one dedicated young girl.
"Everyone in Erskine applauds her efforts and cannot wait to see what she does next”.
