Four Lanarkshire schoolboys have been spreading the Christmas cheer through a fantastic act of kindness.
Austin Walker, Callum Russell, Rhuraidh Sinclair (all 10), and 12-year-old Stuart Russell, decided to make up bags of sweets and sell them round houses in the local area.
And after raising £180, they then decided to head to Tesco and fill up their trollies with items to donate to the foodbank collection within the Uddingston store.
The thoughtful gesture came as foodbanks across Lanarkshire worked round the clock over their busiest period of the year to cope with the Christmas demand.
That saw Hamilton District Foodbank provide almost 1000 people with food and toiletries over December alone, with 600 of those being children.
With the support of family members, the youngsters arranged a shopping trip during the festive season to fill up their trolleys for the cause, as they knew the money they raised would be best served in assisting those less fortunate.

Proud Leisa Walker, mum of St Bride's Primary pupil Austin, praised the boys' efforts and their thoughtfulness.
Leisa told Lanarkshire Live : "A while back the boys decided to make up bags of sweets initially just to make some cash but when they made a total of £180, they knew they had to put it to a good cause.
"They decided last weekend it would be a good idea along with Austin’s gran (my mum) to go to Tesco in Uddingston and get a trolley each and fill it up with things they thought the food bank would really need.
"They each had a £45 budget. At the end, they donated everything to the foodbank within the Tesco supermarket.
"I am extremely proud of Austin and his friends for being so thoughtful particularly at Christmas time when many families will be struggling."
The act of kindness has went a long way for the four youngsters who aim to help out more local causes in the future.
They have also inspired their classmates with their Christmas spirit at Bothwell Primary, where Rhuraidh and Callum both attend, and at Uddingston Grammar and St Bride's Primary, where Stuart and Austin attend, respectively.
Leisa added: "The boys are proud of themselves also that they have helped others through their own ideas and I think it has spurred them on to do more charity work in future."
