A schoolboy has been charged with wilful fireraising after an alleged incident in Condorrat earlier this month.
The incident is said to have happened around 4.30pm on Saturday, March 20, on a grassy area of Chapleton Road.
A 13-year-old boy was charged after officers saw a fence on fire and flames spreading to the grass below.
It is believed a group of teenagers had gathered in the area, but ran off as the police approached.
But, one of the teens was chased and apprehended by officers and alleged to be found with items on him that may have been responsible for the blaze.
Scottish Fire and Rescue officers had been called and were able to extinguish the fire before any serious damage was caused.
In an unrelated incident the following weekend, a van parked in Westfield’s Drumnessie Road was set alight around 9pm.
Anyone with any information on this incident on Saturday, March 27, is asked to call police on 101.
Information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
