Lanarkshire schoolboy, 12, hospitalised after afternoon crash on busy road

A 12-year-old boy was hospitalised on Monday after he was hit by a car in East Kilbride.

We told you yesterday how emergency services rushed to Calderwood Road in the town following the incident.

At that time it was believed that a cyclist was hit - we now know that it was a local schoolboy who was hit.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a woman has now been reported to the Procurator Fiscal following the accident.

A spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : “Around 3.25pm on Monday, we were called to the Calderwood Road area of East Kilbride following a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The female driver of the car will be reported in connection with road traffic offences.”

Anyone with any information or dashcam footage of the area at that time, should contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
