Lanarkshire retirement complex resident recognised for being a fantastic neighbour

A Wishaw pensioner and fantastic neighbour who does so much to help those living beside her is this week’s Say it with Flowers recipient.

Elizabeth Campbell, 72, lives in retirement flats at Houldsworth Court, and is always organising weekly activities for fellow tenants.

Catherine Muldoon, 97, got in touch with us on behalf of the residents to nominate Elizabeth for our weekly award, which is courtesy of Pixies Petals in Newmains.

She said: “Elizabeth works tirelessly organising weekly activities for us, things like crafting, and coffee mornings with tea, coffee, filled rolls and she provides homemade soup.

“She also organises monthly activities with catering and entertainment, and does raffles and a Christmas sale to provide funds.

“We also enjoyed a day out to Ayr in the summer and just this week we had a trip to Gretna Gateway, it was a lovely day.

Elizabeth was delighted to receive the flowers from Pixies Petals (WISHAW PRESS)

“She does have a few helpers who are happy to lend a hand, they plant pots in the garden during the summer to keep the development looking colourful and welcoming.

Elizabeth is also always there for her husband Eddie whose health isn’t as good as it used to be.

“Let’s put it this way, he had good days and bad days and Elizabeth always looks after him,” said Catherine. “He is a real character too though.

“She just does so much I thought it would be lovely to let her know that people appreciate it.”

When we heard about Elizabeth’s good deeds and being such a great neighbour we were delighted to present her with a beautiful floral arrangement.

“We just wanted to thank her for all she does,” Catherine added. “And she was so thrilled when she received the flowers.”
