Lanarkshire restaurants forced to temporarily close over availability of supplies and staff

Two popular Lanarkshire restaurants have been forced to temporarily close this week.

The restaurant at Angels Hotel in Uddingston will be closed to the public today (Monday), Tuesday and Wednesday due to national supplier issues and staff shortages.

And after this week, Angels' restaurant will be closed every Monday from August 30 until October 1.

Meanwhile, the restaurant at The Parkville in Blantyre will now be closed every Tuesday over the next four weeks from tomorrow, August 24. The bar is expected to remain open as normal.

The Lisini Company, who own the two venues as well as Dalziel Park Hotel and Golf Club in Motherwell, made the difficult decision over the weekend, announcing it on their social media pages on Sunday.

A post on the Angels Facebook page it said: "Thanks for your unconditional support to Angels since opening up – as a business we are facing multiple challenges at the moment.

"We wanted to reach out to you to explain that there will be some immediate challenges in the next few months.

"Lisini Pub Co has been operational for over 50 years, and this is the first time in living history that we have had to take these steps.

"They are however, as a local, family-owned community-based business the right steps to take and we hope that you continue to support your local."

Whilst on the Parkville Facebook page, it stated: "We regret to inform our customers that due to unavoidable circumstances our restaurant will be closed every Tuesday for the next month.

"This decision has not been taken lightly and is due to staff shortages and supplier issues which are being felt across the country, so in the best interests of our incredible staff and we apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused.

"Our fantastic bar and our outdoor area remain open for drinks only.

"We thank you as always for your continued support and we hope that we will return to normal operating hours as soon as possible."

In a further post, Lisini Group said that whilst there is very little they can do to influence external factors, they "can influence and help staff, their health and mental wellbeing."

They continued: "We have had to take the decision to concentrate on people, not profit and are introducing temporary measures to help us alleviate some of the staffing issues we are facing."
