Lanarkshire puppy farmer remanded in custody over drug dealing charges

A Chapelton couple have appeared in court in private accused of supplying drugs.

Scott Bennett, 40, and 37-year-old Lynne Brockett are facing two charges of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

The pair, who run Platinum Dog Services in Strathaven, gave no plea or declaration when they appeared on petition at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.

Police Scotland confirmed an arrest was made following a search of their South Lanarkshire property on Thursday.

They were committed for further examination with Bennett remanded in custody and Brockett released on bail.

The duo are expected to appear again within the next eight days.

Police and animal welfare bodies raided the couple's vet practice in October amid concerns about maltreatment of animals.

Platinum Vets and K9 Fertility in Strathaven - and the Chapleton home the pair share - was also raided, with officials examining its kennels complex, which has been used to trade pups.
