Lanarkshire primary school teacher on trial accused of sexual activity with pupils

A Lanarkshire teacher accused of engaging in sexual activity with two pupils forced a schoolboy's hand down her trousers during a trip to an outdoor activity centre, a court heard.

Carol Ann White, 39, is alleged to have been intimate with the 12-year-old boy on a trip to the centre near Oban.

The youngster, who has special educational needs, claimed White told him 'if you touch me then I will touch you' and then grabbed his hand.

He claimed she then forced the hand into the front of her trousers during the alleged incident in March 2020.

Prosecutors claim White, of Uddingston, engaged in sexual activity with the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, between April 2019 and May 2020.

It is alleged she touched his private parts and forced his hand into her trousers.

The charge further alleges she repeatedly sent him messages of a sexual nature on WhatsApp and sent him sexual images.

White has pled not guilty to two separate charges and is on trial at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

In a video interview shown to jurors, the boy said: "Miss White said if you touch me I will touch you and then grabbed my hand and put it down her trousers. It happened once."

The jury also heard how White had sent the youngster a photo in April 2020 which was captioned 'Cockblock of the year goes to Covid-19'.

He was also asked about 'inappropriate' images of himself which were sent to White.

The boy replied: "Sometimes she would ask me to do this."

Another part of the interview saw the boy claim White was 'jealous' whenever he spoke to another teacher at his school.

He added: "She doesn't want me talking to anybody else. She told me she was jealous because she had me in her class."

A message from White to the boy was read out in court which said: "You are not my baby anymore. I just want you to be happy. I miss my baby's hugs more than anything else in the world."

Jurors had previously heard a forensic search of phones belonging to White and the boy revealed a total of 1,185 messages had been exchanged between them.

Messages were shown to the court in which White called the schoolboy 'handsome', 'gorgeous' and 'sweetheart'.

The boy also alleged White had kissed him on the lips while on the trip to the outdoor centre as he sat on a bed.

Prosecutors also allege White engaged in sexual activity with another boy aged 11 at a different Lanarkshire school between August 2018 and April 2019 by kissing him on the lips.

The charge states she repeatedly placed the youngster's head into her groin, slapped him on the buttocks and wrapped her legs around his body.

All of the alleged offences are said to have happened in two primary schools, the Time Capsule in Coatbridge, the outdoor centre near Oban, White's home and an address in Cumbernauld.
