Lanarkshire primary school goes all out for Christmas festivities

An East Kilbride primary school went all out for Christmas culminating in a spectacular Nativity play.

Mossneuk Primary has been full of festive cheer enjoying a whole range of activities - and also helping others less fortunate than themselves with a donation to East Kilbride foodbank Loaves and Fishes.

Infant pupils performed an outstanding nativity show ‘The Greatest Gift’ written and directed by the school's very own Mrs Nicola Reilly.

With support from Duncanrig Secondary School they were able to record the performance so that this could be shared with parents and careers while adhering to COVID -19 guidelines.

The school are very grateful to the team at Duncanrig for their support and assistance with this.

Nicola told Lanarkshire Live : "The Nativity at Mossneuk is always a highlight on our calendar and after not being able to perform last year, pupils, staff and I were thrilled for it to be back.

"It has been a pleasure writing The Greatest Gift for our infant pupils to perform and as always, I have been blown away by their enthusiasm, talent and confidence.

"I was extremely proud watching them perform in front of the camera, like the shining stars they are. Thank you to the wonderful staff in the infant department who helped bring our production to life."

Head teacher, Mrs Julie McGowan, also set a range of Christmas themed challenges for pupils.

With prizes up for grabs, the classes worked together to sing Christmas songs, design banners and create festive decorations using recycled materials reflecting recent initiatives surrounding COP 26.

The children also enjoyed Christmas quizzes via their virtual assemblies.
